Diameter Assignments

All of the diameter / albedo measurements currently in neoproperties are obtained by modeling thermal infrared measurements. When multiple diameter / albedo measurements are available for a single object, the following rules are used to determine which value to display in summary tables. (All values are available in the single-object view.) These rules are applied in order. The first rule to identify a unique measurement is used.
  1. Pick measurements with non-zero errors on Eta (eta_1sigl, eta_1sigu). (Non-zero errors on Eta means that Eta has been fit rather than assumed and usually implies measurements in more IR bands.)
  2. Pick the measurement with the lowest total uncertainty in diameter.
  3. Pick the measurement with the lowest total uncertainty in albedo.
  4. In the case of duplicate entries (no differences in errors in eta, diameter or albedo), then pick the first measurement.
